Close Encounters launches Indianapolis Ballet's 2026–27 season with an inspiring collection of new works created by the company's artistic team, company artists, and guest choreographers. Performed in the intimate setting of The District Theatre, this unique program invites audiences to experience ballet from a fresh perspective, offering an up-close look at the artistry, athleticism, and creativity that bring each new work to life.

Now in its tenth season, Indianapolis Ballet is a rising force in the city’s arts scene, featuring 25 professional dancers who call Indianapolis home. The company’s growth is unstoppable—adding four new dancers, 14 new ballets, and expanding its repertoire to 40+ works, including world premieres by Artistic Director Victoria Lyras.

A leader in Balanchine’s legacy, Indianapolis Ballet is one of the few U.S. companies entrusted by The George Balanchine Trust to perform his masterworks. Collaborations with Newfields, Indiana Landmarks, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and Dance Kaleidoscope further solidify its impact.
